COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR | U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Initiative | 2012- June 2017

  • Execute on internal/external communications strategy: program, project, and budget management, identity and brand guidelines management, track and measure success; review releases and all external products including partnership agreements, technical reports, speeches and talking points and online web tools
  • Prepare briefings and report outs on program progress and energy efficiency market trends for DOE leadership and management and White House: create graphs, talking points, briefing presentations, factsheets
  • Create and provide creative direction and oversight on the Better Buildings SWAP – an award-winning and first-ever reality TV series on energy efficiency (execution from concept, pitching to media, to getting content online)
  • Expand social media presence @BetterBldgsDOE/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube via local and national campaigns
  • Oversee all elements of website and creating new and updating existing pages and functionalities; created the Solution Center, an online database of 1,600+ information resources (20,000+ visits a month)
  • Manage annual Better Buildings Summit an in-person forum for 1,000+ Better Buildings partners to share replicable models

COMMUNICATIONS TEAM LEAD | U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technologies and Wind and Water Power programs | 2009-2012

  • Create internal program calendars and tracker for communications activities across five separate programs
  • Write/create, edit, review: press releases, blogs, trade journal articles, newsletters, outreach emails, infographics, videos, talking points, briefing presentations, factsheets
  • Author of first-ever public relations strategy for Wind and Water Power program
  • Orchestrate the Offshore Wind National Symposium, a three-state, four-day tour with the British Embassy and write final report recapping meeting discussion and action items to serve as the foundation of a national strategy
